Lagos State Governor, His Excellency, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has said his administration will continue to make the lives of the citizens better.
He said the welfare and wellbeing of the citizens of the state remains of utmost priority him, saying his administration will always put Lagosians first in whatever action the state takes.
Speaking at the 3rd Edition of *Sanwo-Olu Listens*, an initiative of the governor aimed at eradicating poverty in communities and providing long term financial assistance to vulnerable citizens, the governor who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Mrs. Folasade Jaji, urged the beneficiaries to judiciously use the funds for the intended purposes for which they were given as she presented them their cheques.
The SSG explained that the “Sanwo-Olu Listens” social welfare initiative is designed to provide financial assistance to vulnerable citizens of Lagos State, pointing out that the administration of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu is committed to going beyond protection of life and property of its citizens to providing for the needs of vulnerable among the citizens.
She said the administration would continue to listen to the citizens, in order to provide for their needs and protect life and property.
In her welcome address, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Civic Engagement, Princess Aderemi Adebowale, said that the initiative was a demonstration of the continuous aspiration of the Sanwo-Olu’s administration to support struggling individuals to cushion the effects of COVID-19.
Adebowale said that it was an understatement that a lot of people needed financial assistance to solve diverse challenges ranging from chronic ailments to varying degrees of disasters occasioned by unforeseen situations.
According to her, the monitoring team from the Office of Civic Engagement went round the beneficiaries to ensure that the money given to them by the governor was used for the purpose it was meant for.
On their parts, the beneficiaries appreciated the Governor’s efforts in promoting community engagement by extending a listening ear to them and Lagosians at large.
